The weeks leading up to moving day are just as important as moving day itself. This is the perfect time to take inventory of your belongings, what you want to keep, and what you want to get rid of. Once you know what you may want to get rid of, why not hold a moving sale? This is the perfect way to rid yourself of these unnecessary items as well as make a little extra cash. Take Thorough Inventory and Sort

While Friday and Saturday are the best days for a moving sale, you should avoid having it on a holiday weekend. You should also start your moving sale as early as 7:00 or 8:00 am. People who look out for garage sales love to get to them as early as possible to try and snag what they may consider rare gems. Starting this early gives them a chance view and buy what you are selling before spending the rest of their cash elsewhere.

It does not hurt to advertise that you are holding a sale. What is your registration number?
The answer you want from this is their USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) number. This can be looked up on the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Service Administration) website. Every company that operates in multiple states should have this registration. With that said, moving companies that only work within one state may not have this number. This helps check the legitimacy of a moving company.

What is the estimated cost and are there any extra fees?
